How to convert to MP4

A WebM, a MOV, a moving GIF, or an MP4 to save at 1080p or 720p. It opens in the editor as a page as big and as long as it is.

It is already on MP4. To change its size, pick 1080p or 720p in its Size row.

With its sound

A WebM or a MOV with sound gives an MP4 with that sound, as wide, as tall and as long as the video you dropped.

A GIF becomes a video

A moving GIF turns into an MP4 of the same size, as long as one play of the GIF. A GIF has no sound, and neither does its MP4.

At 1080p or 720p

A video bigger than you need, like a 2560 × 1440 screen recording, can be saved with its longest side at 1920 pixels (1080p) or 1280 (720p), in the Size row of the Download menu. It runs just as long.
The MP4 is made at 30 frames a second, or at 60 if you pick it in the Download menu.
The file you dropped stays as it was. The MP4 is a new file, made in this tab.

What each file becomes

WebM
A WebM, as some screen recorders and browsers save, becomes an MP4 with its picture and its sound.
MOV
A MOV opens where this browser plays it, then converts like any other video. An iPhone records in HEVC by default; where this browser can't play HEVC, the app says so, and how to record the next ones so they open.
GIF
A moving GIF becomes a video of the same size, silent, as GIFs are.
MP4
An MP4 at a bigger size than you need can be saved again at 1080p or 720p.

Turn the sound off

Volume, then the speaker: the MP4 is silent.

Cut it shorter

Pull either end of its page in the timeline.

How do I convert a file to MP4?+
Drop it on the box at the top of this page, or click the box to pick it. It opens in the Compix editor as a page of its own, at its size and length, and the Download menu is already on MP4. Press Download and the MP4 is saved.

Which files can I convert to MP4?+

Does the MP4 keep the sound?+
Yes. If the video you drop has sound, the MP4 has it too, unless you turn it off with Volume. A GIF has no sound, so its MP4 is silent.
Will it keep the size and length?+
Yes, unless you pick 1080p or 720p. The MP4 is as wide, as tall and as long as what you dropped; a side with an odd number of pixels is one pixel shorter, as MP4 sides are even.
Can I change the size of the MP4?+
Yes. Open the Download menu and pick 1080p or 720p in its Size row: the longest side becomes 1920 or 1280 pixels, and the MP4 runs just as long. A video already that small keeps its size. This changes the width and height of the picture; it does not promise a lighter file than the one you dropped.
Can I remove the sound?+
Yes. Click the video, then Volume in the toolbar, then the speaker. The MP4 is saved with no sound.
Can I cut the video first?+
Yes. In the timeline under the editor, pull the start or the end of its page in; the MP4 holds only what is left.
What frame rate is the MP4?+
30 frames a second, or 60 if you pick 60 fps in the Download menu.
Can I convert several files at once?+
One at a time: if you drop several, the first one opens. Save it, then come back for the next.
Is my video uploaded?+
No. It is converted in this browser tab, so it doesn't go to a server for that. If you sign in to keep the design, it is kept online with its video.
Can I convert to MP4 on my phone?+
On an Android phone in Chrome, yes: tap the box at the top and pick the file, then tap Share and Download the work. On an iPhone or iPad the browser may not be able to add the sound; then the MP4 is saved without it, and the app says so.
Which browsers can make an MP4?+
Ones with a video encoder built in, such as recent Chrome and Edge. In a browser without one, the MP4 can't be made, and pressing Download tells you. If the picture can be made but not the sound, the MP4 is saved silent and the app tells you.
