How to convert an image

Convert images to JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF
A PNG keeps every pixel, so it is the biggest; JPG and WebP squeeze a picture small and lose a little detail you mostly cannot see. Clear parts stay clear only in a PNG: JPG and WebP from here come out on white, or on the background color you picked.
Converting does not cut out a background or make a picture sharper: each file holds the picture as you see it, in the format you pick.
On an iPhone or iPad the editor works with pictures of up to about 16 megapixels, so a bigger photo is brought down to that size as it comes in. On a computer, pictures up to 64 megapixels are kept whole.

How do I convert an image?+

Can I convert an image to SVG?+
No. SVG is made of shapes, not pixels, and this converter saves pixel pictures: JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF.
Are RAW and HEIC photos supported?+
Most browsers cannot open camera RAW files, and browsers on a computer mostly cannot open iPhone HEIC photos. Save them as JPG first, and they convert like any other picture.
Can I convert many images at once?+
Yes. Drop them all together, or pick them all when you browse. Choose the format once, and one Download gives one zip, every file named after its picture.
Can I make an image smaller?+
Yes. Size in the Download menu brings a big picture down as it saves: 1080p makes the long side 1,920 pixels and 720p 1,280. It works for JPG, PNG and WebP; a PDF keeps the picture at its own size. WebP and JPG also make a much smaller file than PNG.
Will converting lose quality?+
PNG keeps the picture exactly. JPG and WebP squeeze it, losing a little detail you mostly cannot see, which is how they stay small. On an iPhone or iPad, a photo bigger than about 16 megapixels is brought down to that size as it comes in.
What happens to a transparent background?+
It stays clear only in a PNG. JPG and WebP from here are filled in: white, or the background color you picked.
Can I convert images on my phone?+
Yes, the same way as on a computer. Open this page on your phone, tap the drop box and pick pictures from your library or your files. When they open, the Share button holds Download the work; your phone keeps the file, or a zip when there are several.
Is there a limit?+
Nothing counts how many you convert, and you never wait in a line: the work happens on your own device, so only a very big batch takes a while. Pictures do have a ceiling: about 16 megapixels on an iPhone or iPad, and on a computer 64 megapixels or 16,384 pixels on the long side. Anything bigger is brought down to fit as it comes in.
Are my images uploaded?+
No. They open in this browser tab, on your own device, and the files are made there. Nothing is sent to a server for that. If you sign in to save your work, it is saved online with its pictures, so it opens on any device.
