What happens to your PDF

The three pages of the Maple Grove Library newsletter as JPG files from the downloaded zip, named maple-grove-news-1.jpg, -2.jpg and -3.jpg

Every page, in one zip

All pages saves one zip named after your PDF, with a JPG for each page in order. A long PDF is made a page at a time, with a window that shows how far it has got and a Cancel button.
The fine print in a park trail map's legend twice: blurred in the editor's view enlarged, and crisp in the downloaded JPG drawn again from the PDF

Sharp, not a screenshot

Each page is drawn again from the PDF at the size you pick, so small print and fine lines stay crisp. At the Original size that is 300 dots per inch: a Letter page is 2550 by 3300 pixels.

Just the page you need

Set Pages to This page and you get the page you are on as one JPG. Pick PNG or WEBP in the same menu if you need another format.
Your PDF is never changed. The JPGs are new files, made in this browser tab, and nothing is uploaded.
On an iPhone or iPad a page is made at up to about 16 megapixels, the most the browser there can draw. Letter and A4 pages fit at 300 dpi.

Questions

How do I convert a PDF to JPG?+
Drop the PDF on this page. It opens in the Compix editor, one page for each page of your PDF, with the Download menu already on JPG and All pages. Press Download and you get one zip with a JPG of every page.
Is it free?+
Yes. No account, no watermark, no payment and no trial. Convert your PDF and download the pictures.
Can I convert a PDF to JPG on my phone?+
Yes. Tap the drop area on this page and pick the PDF on your phone. It opens a page at a time, the page on your screen. Tap Share, then Download the work, and the JPGs are saved to your phone in one zip.
How do I save every page as a JPG at once?+
In the Download menu, Pages is on All pages. You get one zip named after your PDF, with a JPG for each page in order: menu-1.jpg, menu-2.jpg and so on.
Can I convert only one page?+
Yes. Click that page in the strip under the editor, then set Pages in the Download menu to This page. You get that one page as a JPG. To keep a few pages, delete the others in the strip first.
How high is the resolution?+
At the Original size each page is drawn again from your PDF at 300 dots per inch: a Letter page comes out at 2550 by 3300 pixels, an A4 page at 2480 by 3508. Pick 1080p or 720p under Size for a smaller file. On an iPhone or iPad a page is made at up to about 16 megapixels, the most the browser there can draw, so a page larger than Letter or A4 comes out a little smaller.
Is JPG the same as JPEG?+
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two spellings of the same picture format, so a JPG from Compix opens anywhere a JPEG does.
Should I pick JPG or PNG?+
JPG makes smaller files and suits sharing a page in a message, a post or a website. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, which suits pages of small text, and makes larger files. Both are in the Download menu, along with WEBP, and All pages works the same way for each.
Will the layout change?+
No. Each page is drawn from the PDF itself, so its text, fonts, pictures and layout look as they do in the PDF. What you added in the editor is drawn on top.
Can I get the pictures inside a PDF?+
Compix saves each page as a picture, the whole page as you see it. It does not pull the photos out of a PDF one by one: the JPG of a page shows its photos where they sit on the page.
Can I edit before converting?+
Yes. The PDF opens in the same editor as the PDF editor: type on a page, sign it with the Pen, highlight a line, cover a detail with a box, or delete the pages you do not need. The JPGs show what you see.
Is there a limit?+
There is no daily limit and no set number of pages: every page of the PDF opens, however long it is. All pages makes the pictures one page at a time, in a window that shows how far it has got and has a Cancel button, so a long PDF takes longer but does not freeze your phone.
Are my files uploaded?+
No. The PDF opens inside this browser tab, on your own device, and the JPGs are made there. Nothing is sent to a server. Sign in to save your work: your designs are then kept in this browser.
