How to convert WebM to MP4
1
Drop your WebM
Drag it onto the box, or click to pick it. It opens in the editor at its own size and length.
2
Check the page
The Download menu is already on MP4. Add words first if you like.
3
Download
One press saves the MP4, named after your WebM: geyser.webm comes back as geyser.mp4. No watermark.
What you get
The MP4 is made at 30 frames a second, or 60 if you pick 60 fps in the Download menu.
The WebM you dropped is left as it was; the MP4 is made beside it in this tab, and nothing is uploaded.
Why turn a WebM into an MP4
WebM is the web's own video format: browsers play it, and many screen recorders and recordings made in a browser are saved as .webm. Outside the browser it is less welcome: some phones will not play it, some editors will not import it, and some upload forms list MP4 only. As an MP4, the same video goes everywhere a video goes.
Where an MP4 goes
The same video, wanted somewhere that asks for MP4. A few places people send one:
Phones
A video the photo app plays
Video editors
A clip that imports
Social posts
Where a WebM upload is refused
Slides
A video in your deck
Chats
A clip anyone can open
Upload forms
Ones that list MP4 only
More than a converter
Your WebM opens in the same editor as the video editor, so it can be finished before you save it.

Questions
How do I convert WebM to MP4?+
Drop your WebM on the box at the top of this page, or click the box to choose it. It opens in the Compix editor as a page of its own, at its size and as long as it runs, with the Download menu already on MP4. Press Download and the MP4 is saved, named after your WebM.
Is the WebM to MP4 converter free?+
Yes. There is no account to make and no watermark on the video.
What is a WebM file?+
WebM is an open video format made for the web. Browsers play it, and many screen recorders, recordings made in a browser and download tools are saved as .webm.
Why convert WebM to MP4?+
MP4 is the video almost everything plays. Some phones, video editors, slide apps and upload forms take an MP4 but turn a WebM away, so the same video as an MP4 goes where the WebM could not.
Does the MP4 keep the sound?+
Yes. The sound of the WebM is in the MP4. A WebM with no sound, such as many screen recordings, gives an MP4 with no sound.
Does the MP4 keep the size and length?+
Yes. The MP4 has the width and height of the WebM, and it is as long as the WebM, to a tenth of a second. If a side is an odd number of pixels, it comes out one pixel shorter: an MP4's sides must be even.
How smooth is the video?+
The MP4 is made at 30 frames a second, or 60 if you choose 60 fps in the Download menu.
Will the quality drop?+
Compix saves the MP4 at high quality, so it looks like the WebM. Like any video saved again, it is a new file, not a copy of the old one byte for byte.
Can I add text before I convert?+
Yes. Pick a line of words in the Text panel, type yours and place it on the video, and it is in the MP4.
Can I make a GIF instead?+
Yes. Choose GIF as the file type in the Download menu and the same video is saved as a GIF, without its sound.
Can I convert several WebM files at once?+
One at a time. If you drop several, the first one opens on its own page. Download its MP4, then come back to this page for the next.
Are my files uploaded?+
No. The WebM is played and the MP4 made in this browser tab, on your device, so nothing is sent to a server for that. If you sign in to keep a design, it is saved online with its videos, so it opens on any device.
Can I convert WebM to MP4 on my phone?+
On an Android phone in Chrome, yes: tap the box at the top and pick a WebM; it opens on its own page. Tap Share, then Download the work to save the MP4. On an iPhone or iPad the browser may not be able to add the sound; then the MP4 is saved without it, and the app says so.
Which browsers can make the MP4?+
Ones with a video maker built in, such as recent Chrome and Edge. A browser without one says so when you press Download, and it can still save the video as a GIF. One that can make the picture but not the sound saves the MP4 silent and says so.
